Canada recently approved the sale of meat and milk from cloned cattle and pigs and their naturally born offspring without requiring special labelling or pre-market review.
- As of the date of writing this FAQ Ontario farmers do not raise cloned animals
- Cloning was only recently approved
- Raising cattle takes 2–3 years, so as of the date on writing this FAQ no cloned meat exists in Ontario today
- Imported beef may include offspring of clones
- ButcherBox.ca sells only Ontario-raised meat, ensuring no cloned genetics
Cloned-origin products may appear through imports, but not through Ontario farms.
