Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 1 lb ButcherBox.ca Black Angus lean ground beef
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms of your choice
- 1 bag coleslaw mix, pre cut
- 8 oz bean sprouts, fresh, rinsed and dry
- 1 tbsp avocado or other neutral cooking oil
- 3 tbsp sesame or stir fry oil, divided
- 2 tbsp gluten free tamari sauce
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp (or to taste) sriracha sauce (adjust to personal spice taste)
- for garnish Furikake seasoning (Everything but the Bagel seasoning works, as well)
- for garnish green onion (greens only, sliced on a diagonal)
Method
- Make sauce - in a small bowl mix together tamari sauce (you can also use soy sauce if you prefer), minced garlic, 2 tbsp sesame oil, honey, and sriracha sauce. Whisk to blend well, add more sriracha or honey, if you like. Set aside to allow flavours to marry.
- In a large skillet, heat avocado oil and add ground beef, and begin browning, stirring to break up, for about 1 or 2 mins.
- Add sliced mushrooms and 1 tbsp sesame oil to the pan, stir to mix in sesame oil. Saute until beef is no longer pink and mushrooms are softened.
- Add coleslaw mix and bean sprouts, stir to mix well and saute to just soften coleslaw mix.
- Add sauce to skillet, bring just to a boil, reduce heat and simmer briefly, to slightly reduce sauce.
- Serve over cauli rice, regular rice, or on its own, sprinkle furikake seasoning and green onion pieces on top, drizzle with sriracha if desired. If not gluten free, add dry chow mein noodles as additional garnish.
