Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 2 packs ButcherBox.ca 1005 grass fed grass finished lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 - 6 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced stewed tomatoes, drained of juice
- To taste cheeses of your choice - shredded mozzarella, shredded parm, shredded cheddar, etc
- If desired ricotta cheese
- To taste Italian seasoning
Method
- Cook pasta shells according to package directions or your preferred method, lay out in a single layer in a foil pan or a 9 x 13 baking pan
- In a warm pan, over medium high heat, add ground beef and onion to pan, cook to begin browning lightly, breaking the beef into crumbles. About 4 - 5 min.
- Add garlic and Italian seasoning, continue cooking until beef is no longer pink and onion is translucent, about 3 - 4 minutes. Continue to make sure beef is broken apart into small pieces. Drain if desired.
- Add drained tomatoes to beef mixture and stir to mix well. If using ricotta cheese, add it to this mixture.
- Holding a pasta shell in the palm of your hand, fill it with the beef mixture, not over full. Continue until all shells are filled, if there is left over beef now you can add more or overfill shells.
- Sprinkle with your choice(s) of shredded cheese. We use shredded parmesan, followed by a 3 cheddar blend. Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes, until cheese is bubbling. If you want your cheese browned more, place pan under broiler for a few minutes.
- **Mix and match your cheeses on top, use cottage cheese instead of ricotta, or just go with the ground beef mixture in the shells.
