Spicy Crunchy Tuna Tartare is a restaurant-style appetizer that's so easy to make yourself and will impress your guests! Made with tuna, avocado and some panko for crunch.

Ingredients and Method

Ingredients

  • 12 oz ButcherBox.ca sushi grade Ahi tuna steaks, finely chopped
  • 4 tsp pure sesame oil
  • 1 tsp rice wine
  • 4 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 3 tsp soy sauce (or gluten free tamari)
  • 1.5 tsp sriracha (or to taste)
  • 4 tbsp chives, minced
  • 3 tbsp panko crumbs (plain OR gluten free)
  • 1 - 2 ripe, firm, Hass Avocado, peeled, pitted and diced
  • 2 tsp mix black and white sesame seeds

Method

  1. 1. Combine sesame oil, rice wine, lime juice, soy sauce and sriracha in a medium bowl.
  2. 2. Poor over tuna and mix.
  3. 3. Add chives and gently combine tuna mixture with diced avocado, refrigerate until ready to serve.
  4. 4. Add panko crumbs just before serving and top with sesame seeds.
  5. 5. Serve on/with cucumber or zucchini slices; crackers, crisps, naan or bread of your choosing.
