Ingredients and Method

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package ButcherBox.ca Bacon
  • 2 lbs fresh green beans trimmed
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings in the skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the reserved bacon drippings, packed brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Add the trimmed fresh green beans to the bowl with the sauce and toss until they are fully coated.
  4. Spread the coated green beans in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the beans are tender-crisp and the sauce has caramelized.
  5. Remove the baking sheet from the oven, sprinkle with the cooked bacon bits, and serve immediately.
