Ahi Tuna Salad




We love this tuna salad recipe - made from scratch it always better, and this recipe, made with ButcherBox.ca's Ahi Tuna is not only full of flavour and super delicious, it brings the nutritional benefits of Ahi tuna to the mix - which can help improve heart health, boost brain function, and support strong bones. Completely versatile, this recipe makes for mouthwatering sandwiches, tops a salad with perfection, and also works as an amazing snack or appetizer with crackers, or on cucumbers.

Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 2 each ButcherBox.ca Ahi tuna steaks
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 2 small briny dill pickles, diced finely
- 1 rib celery, finely diced
- 1/4 cup Italian flat-leaf parsly, chopped
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- to taste salt and freshly cracked black pepper
Method
- Heat grill or broiler, brush tuna steaks on all sides with olive oil, season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Grill or broil (if using the broiler, move rack down one level from the element) until cooked through, turning once, with no pink remaining and tuna flakes easily.
- Place all remaining ingredients into a medium to large glass bowl and mix well. Season as desired with salt and pepper.
- Flake tuna steaks with a fork, add to veg mixture and stir to blend well, ensuring everything is well coated.
- For a delicious sandwich, butter sourdough slices and toast in a frying pan over medium-high heat, add slices of mild cheese (we like provolone), sliced tomatoes, onions and lettuce with a generous portion of the tuna salad. Also fantastic served over the salad of your choice; or on cucumber slices or boats as an appetizer or snack.
