Smoky, sweet and savoury - a perfect blend of flavours make this Texas bbq pulled pork delicious; the slow cooker method makes it easy!
Ingredients
- 1 ButcherBox.ca Pork Shoulder Roast
- 1/2 cup ButcherBox.ca Organic Chicken Broth
- 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup BBQ sauce of your choosing
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp prepared yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 - 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 8 buns of your choice, split
- 2 tbsp (or more, as needed) ButcherBox.ca Grass Fed Organic butter, salted
Method
- Pour olive oil into the bottom of a slow cooker. Place pork roast into the slow cooker; pour in barbeque sauce, vinegar, and chicken broth.
- Stir brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, onion, garlic, and thyme together in a small bowl to combine well. Add to slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours or High for 5 to 6 hours until pork shreds easily with a fork.
- Remove pork from the slow cooker, leaving juices in slow cooker. Shred the meat using two forks. Return shredded pork to the slow cooker, and stir to combine with juices.
- Butter buns and toast - in a fry pan, under the broiler, however you prefer. Place pork onto buns, garnish with more bbq sauce if you like, serve with coleslaw and pickles for additional garnish.
